3rd Nepalese Youth Climate Summit; successfully ends with 5 point actions

Third Nepalese Youth Climate Summit successfully concluded on Tuesday at beautiful city, Pokhara. The summit was also organized on the occasion of world Environment Day and Rio summit. 50 youths representing all five Development Regions of the country participated on the summit. Total distance traveled by the participants was approximately 19,000 km emitting 420 kg of CO2. The participants has committed to plant trees on Kathmandu-Bhaktapur road to offset the emission, making the summit CARBON NEUTRAL.

From the day one of the summit, participants discussed on different sustainable and green ideas, the ideas were demonstrated on the final day and among them based on the voting from summit participants three GREEN IDEAS were awarded with seed fund for its implementation. The participants has committed to implement all the five GREEN IDEAS that were developed during the summit.

Winning Team:
1. Team C:Participatory Cleanliness and Solid Waste Management Program - Attariya, Kailali (Far west)
2. Team A: Urban Green Belt Campaign - Kathmandu Bhaktapur Road, Kathmandu (Central)
3. Team B: Awareness on Solid Waste Management in Secondary level students (Western)

The third Nepalese Youth climate summit was a complete youth event, managed, facilitated and organized by youth. The Summit sessions were facilitated by Prashanta Khanal, Dipesh Chapagain, Amita Thapa Magar, Rajan Thapa, Khashing Rai and Manjeet Dhakal. The summit was organized by Nepalease Youth for Climate Action with support from Clean Energy Nepal, WWF Nepal, LIBIRD, Oxfam GB Nepal, Climate Change Network Nepal and European Union.
