Celebrating 3rd Year of Kyoto Enforcement Day

Climate Change Network Nepal and its partner organizations organized workshop programs to mark the 3rd anniversary of Kyoto Protocol.

The program began with the welcome note by Miss Amita Thapa Magar, member of Green Youth Network (GYN). The introduction of Green Youth Network (GYN) was presented by CV Mochan Bhattarai.
 
The program was followed by the technical session with three presentations as follows:
• “Climate Change and its consequence” Dhiraj Pradhananga, Chairman, Small Earth Nepal (SEN), Lecturer Meteorology Department of Tri Chandra multiple Campus
• “Carbon Financing for Mitigation of Climate Change: Opportunity  in Nepal” Gopal Raj Joshi, Program Coordinator, Clean Energy Nepal (CEN), Clean Air Network Nepal (CANN)
• Global and National Initiatives on Climate Change, Batu Krishna Uprety, Under-Secretary (Tech.) and Chief Environment Assessment Section, MoEST

 More than 150 students participated in the workshop. The program was a success and it provided the students a new concept of environment issue which is not so much heard. About the UNFCCC and Kyoto protocol, the CDM mechanism and different other things regarding climate change. The participants suggested conducting such programs regularly for college students.

 Likewise, at 14th of February, 2008 same type of workshop was organized for media person and organizational members of partner organizations at UWTC, Tripureshwor. Around 50 participants participated in the workshop. The programs contain presentations followed by the discussion series. The presentation includes:
• Climate Change: Global and National Perspective, Mr. Ngamindra Dahal, National Trust for Nature Conservation
• Global and National Initiatives for Climate Change  : Implementation Status of UNFCCC and Kyoto Protocol In Nepal, Mr. Batu Krishna Uprety, Under Secretary, Ministry of Environment Science and Technology
• Carbon Trading and Financing for Mitigation of Climate Change: Opportunities in Nepal, Ms. Karuna Sharma, Winrock International
