Interaction-cum Training Program on International Climate Change Negotiation

Realizing the need to enhance national capacity on negotiation for Climate Change, an interaction-cum training program on International Climate Change Negotiation was organized in Kathmandu from Nov 20 to 22, 2007.

The program was conducted by Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology and WWF Nepal in support with European Commission under the preparation for COP 13, COP/MOP 3 of UNFCC & Kyoto Protocol” that is taking place in Bali Indonesia from 3-14 Dec 2007.
 

Mr. Ian Fry, an experienced international expert on Climate Change negotiation was a resource person for the training program. The participants include- government and I/NGOs delegates for the Bali COP meeting, high level government officials from ministries and department, representatives of I/NGOs. This training program aimed to provide the participants with the information on negotiation process in UNFCCC and required skills and techniques to become good negotiator. The training program was conducted by adopting interactive and participatory methods. All the participants were encouraged to actively participate in simulation exercise on international climate change negotiation so that they can sense real game behind the negotiation.
