Cycle Rally for Promotion of Clean Transport

On the occasion of Earth Day, Climate Change Network Nepal supported group of organizations to conduct “Cycle Rally and on the Spot Cleaning” in a bid to raise public awareness.
 
A group of NGOs in coordination of Clean Energy Nepal has formed “Earth Day and Environment Day- Nepal Committee 2008” to organize various activities on the occasion of Earth Day and Environment Day. In the same scenario, the Committee organized “Bicycle Rally and spot cleaning at Tudikhel” as one of the event in order to commemorate “Earth Day, April 22, 2008”.

On the Earth Day, April 22, 2008, about 50 participants convened at Patan Dhoka, Lalitpur for the rally. After the gathering, the rally started at 8 am from Patan Dhoka. Banners and play card having environmental messages were displayed in the rally.

Speaking in the rally Mr. Bhushan Tuladhar, Executive director, ENPHO said “every individual must be responsible for what he does that harm this Earth, so such event are the eye-opener that helps to encourage in using such clean vehicles. He also advised to organize a “Bicycle-picnic” regularly.

The program was successful in increasing the interest and awareness among college students, volunteers and representative from different organizations.
